It seems the Zappa family is holding out until October to release archived Zappa music after the record label loses its hold since Frank?s passing. They (Zappas) are going to offer an annual subscription fee, around $100, for about five releases per year. The stuff is going back to ?64 demos with the Mother?s of Invention to his classical stuff. The very good news is Frank filmed almost EVERY Live gig?that?s a lot of serious drumming to be seen! The film and audio catalogues are going to be available as they decide how & when to distribute. One new item is, Joe's Corsage from the Vault on Vaulternative Records. The audio stuff is hard-copy CD over downloads as they claim quality was compromised. This was reported in the Los Angeles Time Sunday Calendar (7/11/04). See; www.zappa.com
?The earliest previously unreleased recordings of internationally-renowned music pioneer Frank Zappa, will roll out on Vaulternative Records, with Joe's Corsage marking the first release in a new, forthcoming CD series available exclusively via www.zappa.com.
Joe's Corsage, an obvious play on Zappa's critically acclaimed classic work Joe's Garage, includes early Mothers demo tapes circa 1965 by Zappa at age 24, prior to his first record deal. These rare recordings, recently extracted from the infamous Zappa Vault by Joe Travers, Vaultmeister to the Zappa Family, are being made available especially for those Zappa fans who dream of hearing what Joe gets to hear. Vaulternative Records, created to feature live concert and other recordings of rare and nuggetworthy significance, launched with FZ Z, produced by Dweezil Zappa. The Joe's Corsage Series is being assembled at the discretion of the Vaultmeister.
Joe's Corsage features 12 tracks and is #72 on the Official Frank Zappa Albums list. For more info, please visit www.zappa.com.?
